I will now share with you my personal details on my illness's, if you need to talk to me about any problems that we may have in common, I am more that happy to help!
My life and how i became ill
Right then, were shall I start, the beginning is always a good place to start...this is the start of my problems with health.
At the age of 7 I woke up with what you would call a frozen shoulder, from then on I had trouble with my neck into my right shoulder blade.
What was insulting to myself and my mother was that the doctor thought i was lying about it because my mum was poorly growing up, mum's problems were a brain tumor and epilepsy, The doctors left me due to me wanting 'Attention'. Well what can you do! As i got older my problems spread into the lower back, so the doctors took it a bit more seriously as my problems went on into early teens, I went through a number of blood tests but nothing showed in them, They then went on to give me 3 steroid injections into the lower back, It's quite painful when you havn't had any anesthesia, anyway the injections didn't work for me so i then had the drink that when you drink it your bones glow on a specific x-ray.
after all these test's i got sent to oswestry in wales to see a pediatric specialist in rheumatology i think? He made me strip down to my knickers and bend so he could see my spine move, he then decided because i have a scoliosis which is a snake like effect if you look at the spine straight on, He decided i needed surgery to fuse a metal rod either side of my spine, well i ran out screaming so mum took me home.
the doctor's informed my mum i had an arthritis of the soft tissue which is obviously an illness that does not exists! then after a few years i still suffered with pain and was excused from any physical activities in secondary school i then went on to have to do mock exam's on my living room floor flat on my back! at that point i had to be on bed rest for 3 months!
When i left school i worked as a waitress and i would end up at home at the end of an 8 hour shift not able to walk because my feet were that painful, also my lower back was that tender i couldn't even move whilst sitting on the couch. I must say that things were difficult, i Tried accupuncture under my g.p i also had physiotherapy from age 14, let's just say loads of tests can weigh you down especially when there is no concrete evidence, I may be wrong but maybe being physically abused made my body weak? i dont know!
After many tests and x-ray's and blood tests i gave in, i felt like i was fighting a losing battle, so on i plod in pain working and being in severe pain, At 18 i met my husband Mark, we met on boxing day 1996 we then met up again on the 17th of january and went to a pub on a date and that was it we were together, poor mark though a few months after being together he soon realised i was having genuine problems with my physical pains, a few weeks after being together with mark i had to have breast surgery for the second time, after this surgery i still was suffering with pain, Mark told me to quit my job and he looked after me from that day on!
From then on i found i had hypermobility syndrome, fibromayalgia, scoliosis, curviture of the spine, ME and rheumatoid arthritis, these were all diagnosed in my 20's so in short i had had my family of 4 children and it's a good job because now it would be impossible! on top of all these medical problems i have also had 13 operations under anestesia so as my dad says "i drain the NHS!
Thats it my problems, maybe one day i might write a more detailed description of my problems but this will do for now!
God bless Marie
